Since when have mattresses become so heavy?

Took delivery of a new mattress this morning. Putting it on the bed, the guys scrunched up the valance - most of it under the middle of the mattres. No worries I said, I'll sort it.

What a nightmare trying to get it out from underneath the mattress - I needed Sly Stalone or at a pinch Floydy

Can I turn it? Can I lift it? WTF? (pardon me). I'm gutted. turning and flipping a mattress is a bit of a thing with me.

So, why the heaviness? How can any normally sized person flip and turn them? Is it because of our 'weighty' society?

Have we now to think of the weight of a mattress as well as everything else?
Makes me think of light bulbs - you just went to the shop and bought one. These days you need a degree to chose one.

Anyone know specialist Rent-a-Mattress-Turners.

Is it a memory foam one Pesta? They're really heavy, a nightmare to get a fitted sheet on.

Hey Pesta, perhaps we could attach Floydy to a drone and get him to turn our mattresses for a fee. He would love to find a day time job!

He would need the drone to get around the country fast enough, to all the ladies!

Well I can still manage to turn mine Twink, but I could always pretend I can't . . .

No it's a sprung mattress Nicol. I couldn't go for foam (shudders). I don't like to feel a mattress 'folding' around me, I want it to be flat.

Making it up with the fitted sheet and trying to lift it around the corners was a nightmare too.
Mad.

I've been reading there are 'rolled' mattresses. They come rolled?

That is what I was thinking! Who wouldn't want a hunk of muscle like that to turn the mattress on their bed?

Nah, he'd be able to use his wings on his arms Twink - not the bingo wing variety, just flapping those strong muscles

I've always flipped and turned my mattresses Mups. 'Cept my last one. Against my better judgement, the last one was one of those turn, but not flip ones.
It was only 7 yrs old and still in good nick.
Wish I would have kept it now

Re: Since when have mattresses become so heavy?

Strange ... I think mattresses are lighter now.

Mind you, I've got memory foam. Wasn't keen on it at first until I broke it in (which took years). I felt like I was lying on a slab like a sacrificial altar.
