Re: Men's Shoelaces

You are much less likely to get your throat cut by a Ghurka if you lace straight across.

The knots are to prevent the laces getting loose.

Re: Men's Shoelaces

The laces in my trainers are all crossed, and they're men's trainers not women's (women's aren't wide enough to accommodate my massive bunions ). And they came ready laced.

It's not something I've ever thought about before

I've never heard of that technique - have you got a picture, drawing or name for it .....

I've looked on these two sites:

http://www.gore-tex.com/blog/how-to-lace-hiking-boots/

https://www.backpacker.com/gear/comm...ing-techniques

I think you might mean a surgeon's knot, which is not "tied-off", but serves as a locking mechanism .....

Using that on every "cross" when wearing boots for a day out, when feet swell, could prove uncomfortable, and even dangerous, if blood supply to the foot is impeded .....

Re: Men's Shoelaces

Blimey, what a lot of fuss about laces.
I had no idea there was a protocol.
