Re: Things To Do

Hi Eccles, lm sure some of your freinds members are
quite elderly and struggle to manage their plots,
Why not get a group of younger members who are willing
together to give assistance to the strugglers, they could
tackle it as agroup so it would not be to onerous for them.
This could then be developed to cover other gardens in
the community that look like they need help!
obviously this must be done in an informal manner so
people dont feel pressured to do it!
Just an idea!

Best Regards Donkeyman!

Good idea DM, but as it's a U3A group all the members are 50+ and, as they're in the gardening group they're all keen gardeners. Still, I'll send this one onto her, although I don't think they have any younger members!

Re: Things To Do

What about getting involved with a school, to help youngsters get interested in gardening?
Perhaps a couple of hours every two or three weeks?

(I realise that might need a lot of admin and possibly even police checks, but you never know, it might be simpler than that!)

Re: Things To Do

With the nicer weather and the growing season, would it be possible to arrange to have a stall at local fêtes and festivals, with members bringing plants/vegetables to sell, with growing instructions, and the proceeds going to a specific charity, and taking it in turns to man the stall?

Also a way of advertising the group and the U3A.
