One I first heard whilst having dinner at a friendīs house. My friend asked her daughter to "side the table". I got up thinking she wanted to push the table back towards the wall. Evidently she meant her daughter to clear the table. That was a new one to me.Also, someone who asked me to "pass the slide" had me somewhat perplexed, meaning pass the butter.
Iīd never heard of either of these expressions.

My Dad used to say he was going to see a man about a dog.
When I was little I always thought, how strange as we already had a dog.
