Appetite control

I'm not on a diet but I can eat more than is good for me at times.

I've discovered a way to control my appetite
When I've eaten something I really enjoy - chocolate cake for instance, my impulse is to have another slice.
I just wait for 10 mins and after that time the the urge for second helpings has passed.

It works for me.

Re: Appetite control

It is reckoned the time taken for the mind 'to be notified' that the stomach does not need any more food is about 20 minutes. If on a diet it's recommended to eat food slowly, particularly main meals, and wait for 20 minutes to decide if you have eaten enough, which often works as the protein that generates the 'full' feeling has then had time to work.

A better solution is not to buy the chocolate cake in the first place, Carol. Conundrum solved

I agree Floydy.

I have a weakness for crisps, peanuts, Cheddars biscuits between meals. I've replaced them with healthier stuff like brazil nuts and almonds ... healthier and less fattening.

Moderation is the name of the game – what a spoilsport that Floydy is!

Agreeing with Floydy I guess must make you a spoilsport too d00d!

I agree with those replacements being healthier, although it is moderation with all those that you have a weakness for. If changing your lifestyle (diet) then the odd treat does make it less difficult. That's what I found when seeking to lose 10 kilos, which I succeeded in doing.

Rather you than me, disciplining a woman – you will seldom win, in my experience that is!
