Have your culinary habits changed?

The Virus .....

Did you panic buy the wrong things? Are you secretly enjoying lockdown, living the air-raid-shelter lifestyle, rustling up something from nothing just to prove you can?

Yes and yes.

We're drinking Typhoo tea laced with long life almond milk ... yuk.

Eating basmati with marrowfat peas and a poached egg on top ... not bad.

Strange days ... are you getting creative in the kitchen?

Re: Have your culinary habits changed?

I am not programmed to panic, d00d, am not old enough to remember air-raid shelters, and didn't rush out to stock pile - so I am living a normal sort of life. Apart from the 'going out' restrictions and having to buy fruit and veg from Sainsbury's as opposed to the market, it is business as usual in Tabby Towers. Maybe cupboards, drawers and wardrobes are a bit tidier!

One good thing - not meeting up with friends for coffees/lunches etc., means my bank account is a bit healthier!

No and Yes

Making croutons for soup out of stalish bread...making small bubble and squeek patties to freeze...diggging out my toasted sandwich maker and enjoying using bread up that way as well.

So many ways to eke out things to save waste

I doubt Typhoo would ever forgive you for that sacrileges act Dood

Re: Have your culinary habits changed?

Not a problem for me as I've gone on a strict diet.
( Too fat ).
Right now , it's....
One round of toast for breakfast.
One jacket spud for tea (buy a bag a week during the supermarket dash, and it is literally now a dash to dodge the virus) and after that the cupboard's full of cuppa soups ...one a day with a round of bread.

I'm gonna be thin again!

That is so revolting it could actually be quite tasty.

We eat healthy food. That hasn't changed.
My dear wife is an excellent cook.
Potato Savoyard soup, teriyaki chicken are to die for.
I am a very lucky man......

Yes I am trying to eat less to make my stores last longer.

Also I have decided not to eat my daily nut allowance in the usual way but to crush them and put them on my porridge to save any accidents with my teeth. I don't fancy a visit to the dentist just now.

Oh, shudder, dread the thought

Meg, a few years ago, I broke the front off one of my teeth with a brazil nut. The dentist made it look good with composite filling. I'm still wary of eating anything hard on that side

I've not eaten any nuts since then.

Re: Have your culinary habits changed?

I'm even more sicker of eating baked potato than I usually am.

I stupidly bought cakes and chocolate. Silly me, they don't agree with me much, but I'm enjoying them
