Canada Shows UK How To Deal With EU Threat Of Piracy!

Worth a read on what was known as ''The Turbot War'' during the 90's and which almost came to conflict.
We should definitely take a leaf out of their book.....

Those fines on the Estai still haven't been paid.

Hi

It will not come to anything like that.

These are our waters, our Control.

No need for any violence at all.

The EU have a very simple solution.

No Deal means Tariffs on our fish exports to the EU, more than enough to pay full compensation to any EU Fishermen affected.

We will also need catch Certificates and Sanitary Certificates, good luck with that.

The EU are applying these on January 1st, we are not applying them until later.

The French, being French, will also just give us 6 months notice of moving the Border back to Dover.

They will also allow all and sundry to leave France to get to the UK.

The EU boats also have to land their catch in our ports how will they import into the EU without catch and sanitary certificates?

You do realise we have been doing this for decades right ?

Hi

The EU Boats will be banned from fishing in UK waters, so not an issue for them.

I do understand what the system is, you obviously do not.

You may learn something if you were to visit the UK Government Website which explains the changes.

They won't be banned at all. They can apply for licenses to fish in our waters - even before the EU foreign boats fished in our waters. You should read the fisheries bill and stop making things up.

If you think we have never done certifications for exports of fish it shows how little you know about any of this

We export salmon and sea fish world wide.

You don’t currently have enough british fishermen to harvest all the fish that you have in your waters. It’s possible that you could rebuild your industry, but it might take a decade or more of massive investment in the fleet and fishermen. It may be that brexit does create a more attractive market in which vessel operators are encouraged to invest, but in the meantime you need to ensure the continued smooth operation of the industry and the supply of fish to consumers in the short and medium term.
Former EU quotas for UK fisheries can be redistributed to UK fishermen in the first instance and the rest (since you don’t have the capacity to fish them yourselves) could be auctioned. But it remains likely that the EU will remain a significant fishing presence in your waters.

Yes Newfoundland had a ban on catching certain fish and they did it until the waters replished themselves. My husband has relatives out there who rely on the fishing industry to live. They took this very seriously.

They probably still retained some of their fighting spirit from 1982, when they finally shook of the yoke of their colonial oppressors?
