Re: Remainers

A lot of years ago, an American Speaker came to address our Management, in London.

To my surprise he said that British people had a growing problem which needed to be dealt with.

He called it a Paradigm.

A Paradigm, he said, is a comfortable state of mind which he said was based on the premise "We've been doing what we do, for a very long time and see no need to change our ways now".

Since that time, we've seen many Businesses & Shops go to the wall often because they would not adapt to the ways of the incoming competition (Think - Amazon, etc).

I recall that he called it a "Remain as we are" stance.

See that word "Remain" right in there.

Luckily, those wishing to "Remain as we are" did not prevail, but it was close!

When you think of the business man, of today, they seem to be those who will take a bit of a risk.

Good Luck to them.

And Thanks!

Yep, and those british men and women were very good at that: doing business. Then came brexit and the trade barriers deal, making that very difficult just when a pandemic was raging.
British parliament found that out already: https://committees.parliament.uk/com...r-brexit-deal/

Because we were left in no doubt that a vote to leave would mean leaving the CU/SM. The government produced a leaflet delivered to every home before the referendum explaining this. Not long after the result remainers grasped the possibility of remaining in the EU by saying we could leave the EU but remain in the CU/SM. It was called a "soft brexit". Anyone who knew anything could see this for what it was. Of course remainers considered leavers stupid so maybe they thought we wouldn't notice.

Just so.
There were lies spouted by a huge variety of people on both sides of the debate, but here's the best repudiation of all:
The UK has not floated off into the mid-Atlantic and sunk.
We are doing just fine .......... better than fine.
Better than the EU is too.

Here's the bit from our government's 2016 handout which was entitled "Why the Government believes that voting to remain in the European Union is the best decision for the UK.
(It's not exactly being very impartial even in the title, is it? )

"A more limited trade deal with the EU would give the UK less access to the Single Market than we have now"

You presume the writer of the pamphlet would have known that "more limited" would equal "none at all"? And had the readers that notion you think? Go try to cheat someone else son!

It's over Solly.
Done.
The UK is out of the EU.

We here in the UK are used to it, apart from a few odd souls maybe.
It's time for you to let it go from your Dutch home too.
If it's not affecting you then there's no need for your despair.

Strange then you are spending so much energy on an organisation that doesn't effect/affect you 🤣
