I read about it this morning. https://www.volkskrant.nl/economie/k...w.google.nl%2F

Unilever now has two head offices, one in Great Britain and one in the Netherlands. The company also has two types of shares. According to the company, it is difficult to work with this double structure, which requires simplification. Unilever emphasized on Thursday that nothing will change for the Netherlands. The company's food branch will remain in the Netherlands, with the corresponding head office in Rotterdam. No jobs are lost in the Netherlands either. "It is certainly not a" no "to the Netherlands. It is only a legal change. In practice, nothing will change, "said Unilever's chief executive, Nils Andersen, in an explanation on Thursday.

The Dane succeeded Dutchman Marijn Dekkers this spring. Dutch top man Paul Polman had already left to make way for Scottish Alan Jope. The Dutch content of the top of Unilever declined so quickly. Under Polman, Unilever presented itself as a sustainable company. Andersen emphasizes that "sustainability is in Unilever's DNA" and that nothing will change on that point. In Anglo-Saxon countries, the role of shareholders is generally more important than on the European mainland. Those (Anglo-Saxon) shareholders were not always pleased with Polman's sustainable mission.

What if the two branches would split? The food branche remains in the netherlands (= EU). If the UK wants food products there suddenly would be tariffs to pay....

Ooops! It seems that the Dutch can't even run a large company either and they've had to bring in outsiders to do the job for them.

But alan jope is scottish, not english. The two bright englishmen were occupied elsewhere. Luckily the scots have many talented men and women.

"It's a big departure from the failed plans of 2018, when the group sought a single listing in Amsterdam," Hargreaves Lansdown analyst Sophie Lund-Yates told the BBC.

"Unilever's sales have been lacklustre of late, and the pursuit of a single listing is Unilever's way of making sure it's in the best possible shape to start the difficult process of rejuvenation."
