Donkeyman! 👍🤗👍
I will forgive you describing my post as being venomous when in is in fact purely explanatory following your obvious failure to recognize an answer when you see it.

I'm sure every reader will note too your failure to comment upon the last paragraph in my earlier reply to you.

Re: Ben Habib & June Mummery on the Crap Fishing Deal

Moving on from those doing nothing but try to provoke negative response (yes, there is a word for such behaviour) is some news on the thread topic, from Sir John Redwood:

"I was sent this from the Fishing Minister:

Love Seafood Campaign
The Trade and Cooperation Agreement has set a new relationship with the EU on fisheries. This marks an important step in the right direction. Over the course of the last year we’ve taken our independent seat at the Regional Fisheries Management Organisations, and reached a partnership agreement with Norway, our most important partner on fishing interests and with whom we have responsibility for shared stocks in the North Sea.
As we move forward, we are determined to do all that we can to support our coastal communities. As a nation, we should be eating more of the fish that we catch.
In the coming weeks, Defra and Seafish (the public body that supports the UK seafood industry) will be working together to deliver a UK-wide ‘Love Seafood’ campaign, featuring UK fish and shellfish.
The campaign will focus on increasing domestic consumption of UK seafood. It will promote species including: langoustines, crab, lobster, scallops, oysters, clams, mussels, squid, cuttlefish, turbot, plaice, sole and monkfish.
The campaign will run throughout March, and will feature in national and regional press titles. We see this as a first step, and part of our wider ambition to ensure greater domestic consumption of UK-caught seafood."

Hi

Morrisons are already doing a British Fresh Fishbox as a promotion at £7.

It will change nothing quickly, we love of cod or haddock and chips.

Langoustines are simply to expensive for most of us.

Boris has sold out our Fishing Industry, I have no arguments with that statement.

He simply did not deliver what he promised, he was more focused on getting a deal on the day.

The EU have still not ratified the Deal, Boris has a chance to put things right.

Morrisons on their own - like the promotion overall - will have very little impact.
Apart from Morrisons, no supermarket has a fish counter any more.
That's how popular fish is in the UK's diet nowadays.

And whose fault is that?
Where did all these whinging fishermen used to sell their fish before Bexit, and why?
When you begin to understand that you will begin to understand that it's not the fault of Boris or of any other single person, but of successive governments and of the EU with their practice of promoting reliance upon their beloved union rather than on our own countries.

Just as the EU funded the moves of car-makers and auto parts manufacturers into countries with cheaper labour and food manufactuers too (like Cadburys moving to Poland) it is (or was, in our case) part of the EU masterplan to make member countries dependent upon each other, so promoting increasing federalism via the back door.

That is why seperation is difficult, not because of the actions of one person whether it is our PM or anybody else.
Nearly 50 years-worth of such covert integration will take time to unravel and expecting an immediatetly satisfactory conclusion is frankly so risible as to be bordering upon the insane.

Yet again though we will soon see whether or not the EU will opt not to ratify the deal or whether they prefer the benefits of their huge but reducing trading surplus with us.
We know that the EU practise is to delay, but this cannot be kicked down the road for long - and it looks very much like our government will push the EU all the way too.

How much difference in real terms will one trawler make - and what was this trawler doing before Morrisons bought it?
Your link tells you.
All they've done is purchased a company that already supplies them.
It's to increase profits, plain and simple and in reality it probably benefits those fishermen not at all; if you had read your link it says:
"The danger is control – how much will they [Morrisons] have, and how much influence will they exert?

“Supermarkets work out of necessity. Taking over a key point in the supply chain and managing prices. There could be a downside.”

BTW, I'm pretty certain that I'm not as hilarious as somebody repeatedly incapable of differentiating between "your" and "you're", but keep up the fatuous personal jibes rather than debating the content if that's what makes you happy.
