True but many do make enough to be better off than employees at retirement. I'm not suggesting only self employed are means tested I think pension should only go to those who need it. All benefits should be like that, I recently met a widow getting widows benefit and lamenting the changes in that benefit but she has three houses, various horses and generally lives off investments. I'm not jealous I wouldn't give up my husband for half of that but why are we giving benefit of over £500 a month to her when she can live very well with out, I'd give it to someone who actually needs it.
