Blender recipes please!

Sainsbury's were selling off a heavy glass jar blender in their clearance section. At 11.99 I thought it was good so used my Rewards to get it.

However, there is nothing inside, no manual, no instructions, no recipes. Normally with a cookery item you get something in the box! I will make soups, as I usually do a vegetable one and use the hand blender, but that just throws it up all over the work top and surrounding area( ), like I did the other day, then put in some cooked chicken, and I'll experiment with a tomato soup.

What I want to try are fruit/veg smoothies, alone or combos.

Tried having a look on the internet but they are mostly USA based which means a lot of the ingredients would be hard to source.

Has anyone got a blender that they use for this type of thing? Do you have any tips, recipes to share? It has an ice cube crusher button, which might be useful.

Going to have a look in my library later in the week but in the meantime, it's sitting on an already crowded worktop being idle.

Thanks.

Re: Blender recipes please!

My blender is probably the most overworked tool in my kitchen - but I tend to make up the recipes as I go - which is not much help to you.

You could try here for an instruction manual:-

or here for a bargain recipe book:-

http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_...der%20recipies

or here for some quick and easy recipes to start you off:-

Have fun !

Re: Blender recipes please!

I only just saw this thread and you may have discovered your own favourites. When I lived in the West Indies bananas were very plentiful. When we had an overload we would freeze them, just peel them and put them in plastic bags. I got small bags and froze them individually.

My recipe needs about four medium frozen bananas, some powdered milk, and some crushed ice or ice water. Just put everything into your large jug and run on mix for a minute and then run on smooth for another minute you should have a really creamy ice cream. However, you could add sugar if you want to or milk and get a very creamy thick milk shake.
