I did initially, suggest you being a Bursar in a school but thought you were trying to get away from figures?
will always need undertakers too, unlikely to be made redundant!

Over 50s career change, just forget that, lock the door, and wait for the Carer.

It's already available, they pick you up from the hospital mortuary and take you to the crematorium. No fuss, no service, just the very basic. Medical research is even cheaper.

Alternative "Jobs" for the over 50s, that is a different matter.

Doesn't career mean to crash from side to side, whilst going downhill in an uncontrolled fashion?

Can someone kindly recommend any popular careers people who are aged over 50 go into?

Thanks in advance

Hard to say without knowing your interests are, what you can do, and what work is available in your area.

Is there anything you feel you would like to do that you could perhaps re-train for, or would you prefer to stay in Accounts if possible?

Could you perhaps do book-keeping on a self-employed basis?

Are you wanting full time employment, or would part-time suit you better? Skilled or unskilled?

Like I said, hard to advise without knowing much.
Maybe it would be best to look in a few local Agencies to see what is available in your area.

Re: Changing careers at the age of 50

I was made redundant in 1995. TVs and electronics in general were now being manufactured by Japanese companies such as Sony & Panasonic and were so much more reliable and many tv engineers were in the same position as me. It took around six months of trying to find another job doing what I had trained for in the 50s and 60s before reality kicked in. Too young to retire at 55 I started work for a double glazing company. Lasted 4 years. Then a swimming pool supplier and installer. Had enough of that after 6 years. Finally a garden centre for 4 years. There are jobs to be found in you are able to set your sights a little lower.

There are always jobs available as long as a person can think outside the Box.
