Although not strictly on topic, but not entirely off it, surely there "ought" to be some kind of age restriction for (eg breast and lip) enhancement plastic surgery.
Supporters of transgender, be it medical professionals and legal professionals say that children as young as 5 are able to determine if they are transgender or not and as they get older, they are able to make their own informed decision about which direction they want to take.
This past year there have been numerous articles of children as young as 9 saying they know they are not in the right body and want to change. This then furthers the issue of schools having to decide on changing the toilets to include transgenders so they do not feel out of place. Again, this is something that has been in the tabloid press and doing the rounds in online media for some time but the crux of the whole matter is how this all ties in with the point that is made in Dex's post.
Consent for sexual intercourse is 16. To vote it is 18, 18 to buy alcohol, 18 to buy legal drugs, 17 to drive a car, all quite heavy major decisions but regardless of all of that, it is socially accepted that children as young as 9 can decided what sex they want to be. It would therefore seem deciding on ones sex is not so important as deciding on who to vote for is!!!!. What a messed up society we live in.
