Why are we afraid of writing a WILL

Can I ask you guys a serious question? 70% of UK adults dont have a Will. I have spent the last 3 years trying to get people to make a Will, pointing out the horrors of dying Intestate. In spite of advertising, leafleting etc I still only do 2 or 3 a week.It costs very little, can be done with a 5 minute phone call and email, so is it that we are afraid to discuss our own mortality? or do we as an age group really not care what happens when we are gone?
Comments please.

We made wills years ago this thread has reminded me we must do them again as we must make sure Grace is looked after. I know the boys will step up but I think they need the tools to do so and we can make sure they have at least got the money to help them.

Re: Why are we afraid of writing a WILL

We have made wills but only to satisfy my wife.
I couldn't care less about what happens when I'm gone....I won't be here to see it.
Who know what will happen the day after the funeral, no matter what we do we can't influence what will happen in the future.

The problems caused by no will are pretty bad I like to think we will make it easier for the kids if we have it all written down.

I've made my will and paid for my funeral to make things as easy as possible for my daughter, in my view it's a hard enough time for your kids without any extra hassle that can be avoided by taking this simple step

I used a solicitor, with cars, property, cash and shares in your estate it is IMHO best to use an expert.

I agree, it is best to use a solicitor, at least to witness your will.
In my neck of the woods there are a few that offer a simple, straightforward will for a good price
