Coronavirus: 'Covidiots' criticised on Tui quarantine flight

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-53970217

A flight from Zante which left nearly 200 people facing two weeks' self-isolation was a "debacle" and a "free-for-all", passengers say.

One traveller said the Tui flight was full of "covidiots" and "inept crew who couldn't care less". Another claimed there "wasn't much" policing of rules.

16 passengers on flight TOM6215 from the Greek island to Cardiff have now tested positive.
The 193 passengers and crew who were on board the flight on 25 August are being asked to self-isolate for a fortnight.

Health officials said 7 people from three different parties are believed to have been potentially infectious on board the aircraft.

Greece and its islands remain on the UK government's list of quarantine-exempt countries, meaning travellers do not need to self-isolate on their return.

Stephanie Whitfield, a passenger, said "This flight was a debacle. The chap next to me had his mask around his neck. Not only did the airline not pull him up on it, they gave him a free drink when he said he knew a member of the crew. Loads of people were taking their masks off and wandering up and down the aisles to talk to others. As soon as the flight landed, a load of people took their masks off immediately. The flight was full of selfish 'covidiots' and an inept crew who couldn't care less."
Victoria Webb was also on the flight and said she only became aware of the outbreak when her mother sent her a link to the BBC News story as she travelled home to London from Cardiff. She has now quarantined in line with government advice, but said she has received no communication from health bodies, such as track and trace.
This may be an isolated incident but 193 passengers and crew are now affected, as are their families, friends, colleagues and acquaintances, since the passengers had been home for 5 days before any were contacted by the authorities.

Thanks to a few "morons" .....

I saw this in the TV news yesterday & couldn't believe it.

I would blame the staff & the staff only for not keeping the passengers under control. The morons themselves probably knew no better!!

The cabin crew really should be sacked at the very least.

Since we're not aware of what cabin crews have been told to do in such situations, and given reported incidents of attacks on them, it seems a bit harsh to insist upon their dismissal. We only have one witness stating "they didn't give a toss", which doesn't really mean anything. Who knows, they may have asked politely but were unable to take any further action. We don't know!

I can see Scotland heading into another lockdown, thanks to the ones who refuse to obey the rules. Don't they realise as well as infecting others they are making sure the virus stays here.

Re: Coronavirus: 'Covidiots' criticised on Tui quarantine flight

I think the only real solution is to avoid the 'cheapo' airlines (including BA!), as these are the ones the yobs and covidiots tend to use.

Yes, I know that not all airlines fly from and to all locations, but I'd be prepared to accept that and change my plans accordingly.

As far as I'm concerned, if the yobs and covidiots want to risk their health and that of their friends, that's their look-out.

Some people, I'm afraid, are just uneducable!

Well sack them anyway. The flight crew too. AND the passengers for holding a rave AND hit TUI with a ten grand fine for organising it.

That's the mood I'm in today!
