Given Up Sending Christmas Cards?

I have given up, this year, and let others know that I shall not be sending cards, this year.

One of my Granddaughters is working with a Charity, in support of her Mother's (my D.I.L mentioned elsewhere) Charity.

I shall be putting all of my Christmas Card money into that Charity.

But the cards still keep rolling in, through the letter box.

I still send emails, to friends & family, around the world.

But I feel a large degree of guilt each time the postie drops another card through the door!

Hard to change habits of a lifetime!

Re: Given Up Sending Christmas Cards?

I know a lot of people do this but my personal thought is 'Why can't you send cards & give something to charity as well?' My 2 boxes of cards only cost me £5 so I reckon I could afford it.

I like sending & receiving Christmas cards & will carry on doing so.

The problem isn't the cards it's the postage.

Re: Given Up Sending Christmas Cards?

Love sending Christmas cards and receiving them.
They have to be old fashioned theme's mind.

I address them to Lords & Lady's so the postie gets a nice feeling he's possibly delivering to royalty.
I also get quite a few back addressed to Lord & Lady as well.

The sad thing is and I suppose its the same for you reading this, when you look down the list and see those that have passed on sisters brothers close family friends.

So I always have a moment after I have finished in remembrance of the great times we had together and one day we will meet again I know it.
Merry Christmas.

While I feel much the same as you, Carol, I also think LD has a good point when he says about the postage.
I reckon sometimes the stamp costs more than the card, and they are going up again shortly.

I deliver all the local ones, but still post cards to those further away.

Re: Given Up Sending Christmas Cards?

The last xmas card I sent was four years ago to my aunt before she died. She was the last of that generation. My generation and younger generations don't get one from me. I do keep in touch via email and skype.

Re: Given Up Sending Christmas Cards?

I have posted all my usual Christmas cards but haven’t received any yet from relatives.

I have received cards from our son, daughter and grandchilren though. Also from some friends.

Re: Given Up Sending Christmas Cards?

I love Christmas cards - both making and receiving them. I buy stamps every so often during the year so it does not come too expensive in one go. Like Mups - I deliver as many as possible by hand and make sure those to be posted are made early enough to travel second class.
