Re: Old TV Sets.

Today I managed to take two of our old sets down to the local tip.

They have a container dedicated to such items.

It was very sad to see the back of them. (Sony/Panasonic)

I now have at least a dozen remote control units in the study gathering dust.

Perhaps they will be worth something in the future?

The tv in the pic looks like it's BAKELITE, very collectible. No idea who the band is. I'm off to a 60's pop reunion in Frbruary with original bands still performing some 50 years on.
Heading up the wrinklies is JOe Brown & the Bruvvers...... can't wait

Re: Old TV Sets.

I don't think it was Cream, although the sideburns on the nearest guy look very much like Clapton's Cream-era whiskers.

I don't think it was the Manfreds either - Manfred Mann, the keyboard player had shortish black hair and a neatly trimmed black beard (sans moustache).

I loved Cream - best band ever!!!!!! Ginger Baker - best drummer ever, Jack Bruce - best bass player and singer ever, and Clapton who could knock out a tune on the guitar.
This was our first telly - a Peto Scott

I also remember the day my dad brought home a little set-top box which enabled us to get the new ITV channel. The first thing I saw was an advert for Polo Mints which, as I recall involved a lady on a trapeze?????
Those were the days!

I remember too that we had a set with just the BBC channel, and I seem to recall it had to go back to the shop to have a knob fitted to change channels once ITV came out...

Could be mistaken, but I think the group on your TV may be Manfred Mann- I think the blonde one standing up may be Paul Jones or Mike D'abo with Manfred Mann on the keyboard. They were one of my favourite bands in those heady late 60's days.
Lol the TV and budgie

Don't think Paul Jones played guitar ... fabby at mouth organ and singing though
