Has anyone read the Lonesome Dove books by Larry McMurtrie, or watched the DVDs. We found a full boxed set fairly recently and they really depict how it must have been in those days. So hard. I think the Lonesome Dove books and DVDs must be the best westerns ever created, although they are pretty violent.

Wow,how did I miss this post,the best TV cowboy was the great[Clint Walker]as Cheyenne Bodie,serious show with a great theme song,also the first[hour long]western series.
