You will soon see who that affects more when you see Monsiuer Barmier come to the UK cap-in-hand this week.

So you realised negotiations go on?

That depends upon whether or not the EU submit to the UK.

Oh, he will interpret barnier's long planned trip to london as an submission. In politics reality takes second place.

It's crunch time for the EU where they will show their true colours.
Either they accept the UK as an independent nation or they don't.
And the world is watching.

They won't

The commission is just a glorified civil service. They don't care about what damage it does to the 27, they will just fill the void by taking it over with more power.

More unemployment means a bigger, obedient population relying on the state and more control over them by the commission.

For the bankrupt businesses, they will be offered to Germany.

The EU commission only cares about the project and the project doesn't care about the people, only its objectives. Thats been clear for decades.

Hundreds of thousands of normal EU subjects will soon find that out the hard way.

Who really thinks that saying "ah but the British will suffer too" is going to make them feel any better?
Especially when - AGAIN as following the GFC - the UK recovers quickly.

I would not be at all surprised if such a thing actually began to happen.

Germany, for example, would not be selling us many of their BMWs, Audis, VWs, etc. unless they can circumvent the inevitable tariffs.

Marge and I intend to buy a new VW Golf in March, or rather we had intended to.
We shall see. A 10% tariff would add another £2000 or more on to the price.
If the VW outlet is happy to cover that increase in cost, we'll still go for it. If not, we'll be looking at options from other countries, preferably the far east.

We have had more inward investment and full employment since we voted to leave. Until the pandemic we were outstripping every member state on economic growth too.

The remainers and EU fanatics refuse to accept it because it illustrates more failure of the customs union and the single market. Their 3 biggest external markets each out perform the EU and don't have any trade deals with them.

Says it all.

You would perhaps be surprised how many people are already refusing to buy EU produce of a huge variety of types, but regarding cars specifically - there is no reason whatsoever why (if the EU persist) the UK could not manufacture cars here with input primarily from Japan (thanks, trade deal) and say South Korea.

We have a hugemarket for cars, and an extremely profitable one.
Somebody will make the very most of that - and together with the changing reliance on fuels, now is a good time to reconfigure our position.
