Pay Pal users

For those that have an account with PayPal but haven't used it for a while - Beware.
They are going to put a charge on your account.
See here:

Quote:

PayPal is set to introduce an annual fee of up to £12 for users whose accounts have been inactive for a year or more – but you can avoid the charge by logging into your account before the deadline in December.

From 16 December 2020, PayPal users will be charged the fee if their accounts have been inactive for at least 12 consecutive months.

PayPal defines "inactive" as an account where the user hasn't sent, received or withdrawn money, or logged into their account.

If your account has been inactive for over 12 months, the fee you're charged will be the lesser of £12 or your entire PayPal balance. If you don't have any money in your PayPal account, or your balance is negative, PayPal says you won't be charged a fee (even if you have a credit or debit card linked to the account).

You can avoid being charged by logging into your PayPal account (or making a transaction) on or before 15 December 2020, before the fee is introduced on 16 December 2020.

Unquote.

Re: Pay Pal users

Thanks Mups.

A very sneaky move by Paypal but nothing surprises me any more. I'm just deciding whether I actually need it seeing as I have not logged on for a few years now.

For now, I shall just log in (if I can remember my login details that is).

Re: Pay Pal users

No problem for me.

I was dead against PayPal as an eBay seller when it first started but since then I have completely changed my mind, it is a service I use all the time not just on eBay but for other purchases.

I doubt 12 months will ever pass between PayPal payments.

Re: Pay Pal users

We have received a notice here in the US of changes in policy for Paypal, but no charge or fee will be imposed like in the UK. It is the time of year that businesses adopt or change policies . I have received several concerning banking and credit or savings plans in the last few weeks.

I just checked the Australian Pay Pal site and there is no annual fee so it might just be a European charge.

Re: Pay Pal users

I managed to log into my account, eventually, I had not changed my email address so any notifications about charges would not have reached me.

Thanks Mups.

Re: Pay Pal users

Mrs mart get a lot of her craft materials from Ebay and pays using PayPal. I get electronic stuff from Ebay and pay using PayPal. No danger of an additional charge.

Re: Pay Pal users

I'm on Ebay a lot and always use Paypal so I too should be ok.
