‘A Suitable Boy’ On BBC1..... Would You Recommend It?

I didn’t watch, or record this new series, A Suitable Boy, set in India in 1951. So l wonder, if anyone did watch it and liked it?

Andrew Davies who adapted it from Vikram Seth’s epic novel, lives locally to me and l usually like his adaptations on television.

Do you think l would like this one?

I really enjoyed it, BBC do these costume dramas so well and captured the atmosphere.
I thought the singing in it was a bit too much ,smaller bits would have been better.

Would I recommend it? Absolutely not. An hour of my time lost forever. The acting throughout was appalling. Complete waste of tax payers money imho. I won't be watching any more of this series.

I started the book years ago .
It was so fat and long I lost track of where I was it was like reading the bible .
I missed it last night ( watching Downton again) so will see it tonight .

I will give A Suitable Boy a go on the player.

I see episode 1 is available on iPlayer, I'll give it a go but might wait until more is available, watch 2 or 3 in one sitting.

I agree with Xandra, enjoyed it but the singing was not to my taste.

I have to agree. I love anything about India but I was bored after twenty minutes. Terrible acting, really wooden.

Will record it until the series is complete and binge watch it.
