Looks to me like his yacht required a fair sized crew to sail it. Doesn't look like a gin palace nor a toy to me

Maybe he wanted to rest the crew prior to the forthcoming regatta in Italy?

Is there any particular reason why he shouldn't make a claim if he has paid for it? Thought that was the nature of insurance

Few owners would risk that, or the crew, sailing across the Atlantic just to get from A to B .....
