UK Government spending is about 900 billion pounds, net contribution to EU was about 11 billion pounds ie 1% of government spending. presumably it is similar for all EU Governments (give or take).
If they all put
all their EU contribution toward their people that 1% is going to be three parts of bugger all.
It is just a stupid anti EU argument detracting from the real austerity measures conservative governments put in place to take money from the poor to give it to the rich.
Haven't you noticed that when things are going well there are tax cuts for all (good for the rich) but when things go badly then the first thing that is cut is welfare which disadvantages the poor? No talk of reinstating the tax cuts you notice.
Naturally any government is very pleased with any galah blaming the EU (or indeed any one but them) for austerity/poverty, it saves them having to come up with excuses because it is always someone elses fault.
As I have said elsewhere I don't care if the UK stays in the EU or leaves but this constant blaming the EU for every little things is patently absurd. You're leaving! Who are you going to blame in two years time?
