Children in need

-hit the £15 million mark late evening. It tells me two things -one -the incredible generosity of the brits -two -hos bad it is that we still have so many children in need.

Re: Children in need

It`s a good cause and there is much good work done.
I don`t watch it because it focuses too much on the ` awww - cute kiddies `aspect. I understand why, but it`s a bit sugary for me. I work with kids all year and TBH am a bit ambivalent about these one-off appeals. For one thing the Gvt. should be providing more. Children should not have to bear the burden of caring for their parents for example.

Re: Children in need

I didn't see any of the programme last night
Like Claire I'm a bit ambivalent.
I've been seeing snippets about various projects on our local TV and they are obviously all very worthwhile.
However, CiN will raise £37million. Fantastic. The governement 'gave' the bankers £37billion ... for 'nothing', or rather to cover their previous excesses and stop the world commercial system collapsing into something worse than the Wall St crash of the thirties.

Re: Children in need

It's a sad fact that unfortunately there will always be children in need and I think the generosity of the people in this country has been amazing considering the majority of people have had to "tighten their belts" somewhat.

Have to agree - although I would extend that to people in general not just children. So much more the we could be doing for the poor imo (talking countries and commerce too).

I stopped watching it years ago, . . I just need to look around me to see those in need.

Re: Children in need

I don't watch it either, its sad that there is a need to raise money for these children when so much is wasted elsewhere.
