60 (mostly) Children Dead

A measles outbreak in Samoa has led to the death of about 60 people, mostly children, according to the latest figures on this morning's radio news.

https://www.abc.net.au/radio/programs/am/

All businesses have been shut today for a mass vaccination. houses with unvaccinated occupants have been asked to put a red flag or material outside their home.

The anti vaxxer morons have been roundly condemned by doctors and health professionals.

Measles is a terrible disease which can have terrible aftereffects .
I expect these island people have not been exposed to the virus and have little resistance.

According to Wikipedia:

The outbreak has been attributed to a sharp drop in measles vaccination from the previous year, following an incident in 2018 when two infants died shortly after receiving measles vaccinations, which led the country to suspend its measles vaccination program.[14] The reason for the two infants' deaths was incorrect preparation of the vaccine by two nurses who mixed vaccine powder with anaesthetic. As of November 30, more than 50,000 people were vaccinated by the government of Samoa.[15]

Very sad. Something that could have been controlled so easily.

Re: 60 (mostly) Children Dead

Great sensational news for Big Pharma

60 deaths in how many people? Did the article not say?

There are always some deaths from Measles and for that matter any other disease you care to name.

The issue is and always will be:

- What is the level of risk?
- How likely is a person to contract the disease?
- If they contract it what % of people deal with it perfectly naturally?
- If they contract it what % of people deal die from it?
- What are the available ways to ensure your body can deal with it?
- What vaccines are available?
- What are the success rates of the vaccine?
- What are the ingredients of the vaccine?
- What are the harm rates and death rates from the vaccine?

and so on

Reducing such a complex issue and need for proper research and evaluation to a sensational story is frankly just lame but of course will do wonders for vaccine sales.

Other people have very different takes on what has occurred in Samoa.

For example this one who blames the Samoan government stating:

"It is their incompetence in shipping supplies of Vitamin A, the recognised treatment of measles and to be made available to Samoan hospitals as a PRIORITY before shipping over more vaccines."

'It is their failure to focus on the particular STRAIN of measles occurring and to disclose whether in fact it is the vaccine that is contributing to the current epidemic."

'It is their failure to educate all Samoan people, especially parents, on this childhood infection and how to recognise symptoms, quarantine and treat at home."

'It is their failure to give Samoan citizens TRUE INFORMED CONSENT before being forcibly injected with a live virus vaccine."

Believe what you will of course. People either take the time to look at the true data (all readily available) and facts or just join the media band wagon.

Labelling people as "anti vaxx morons" is appallingly derogatory and ignores completely the thousands of people horribly harmed by vaccines and sweeps beneath the carpet the plethora of facts that highlight the true risk levels associated with contracting Measles and dying from Measles.

No point discussing further as generally forum members are not interested in the real facts and post emotionally rather than from a sound research basis.

Re: 60 (mostly) Children Dead

In a Europe that has mostly eradicated measles, it is on the increase again as parents refuse to get their children vaccinated. Ukraine has the most cases in the world, with more than 53,000 reported in the last year.
