Panic Buying, I mean the type that leaves the shelves in the shops all empty. Sheer madness. There were big ques outside our Tesco before it even opened today, I saw them on my way home from the pool. The place will be empty before noon.

Re: Things that annoy you!

Panic buying means those who don't have the means to purchase more than their usual requirements will suffer. They will not even be able to buy just for their immediate needs. The way this country works with supplying shops and supermarkets there has been enough to go round in 'normal' times so this would continue. Panic buying almost ensure this is going to present difficulties, these fuel the panic buying even more.

I wonder how much of this is from a basic kind of 'survival' instinct, how much is selfishness and how much is just human greed?

I don't know Baz, Some would say I panic buy as I got extra toilet rolls and dog food. But I only bought one extra pack of each for a few weeks and put them away. I did this when the Brexit fears were on the go. I don't call that panic buying.

As I said earlier,My freezer/cupboards are usually well stocked in the Winter Months anyway up here, but last week I bought some extra dried stuff like pasta, packets of soups/sauces etc' which don't take up much cupboard space but may come in handy...I don't believe in hoarding or panic buying cos I aint the panicky type.....yet!

I do that myself just in case I am ever unwell or unable to drive so cannot shop. You have to do this when living on one's own. That means I usually have two of almost everything in my food cupboard, fridge and freezer. That is just common sense I reckon but what's going on in the shops now is people 'panic buying' (or whatever terminology you like to use for it), so taking away the chance for others to just have their usual supplies plus maybe one extra for the reasons I do that.

However, it will all 'come out in the wash' as I was always told when I was a child.

I don't panic, well that is as long as the Indian Takeaway delivery driver doesn't have to self isolate, but, even then every cloud has a silver lining, at least I won't need much Toilet Tissue.
