Bring back the Wages Inspectorate???

Well, well, well, surprise, surprise, up to 20% of employees are being underpaid. I'm not surprised, since although the 'nasty party' instituted the 'National Minimum Wage', they signally failed to implement any policing of it to ensure that their policy was implemented across the board.

I thought the living wage was £7.20 not £8.25 ?

The voluntary living wage is calculated yearly and is based on the basic cost of living in the UK. It is set independently by the Resolution Foundation and overseen by the Living Wage Commission.

But it's voluntary so they can't make people pay it can they ?

Only the minimum wage is compulsory. Joe is just casting around for yet another stick with which to beat the Conservatives. One day you may get the message and ignore him like most posters on here..

I try not to ignore people unless they are rude to me UJ hasn't done that.

If people aren't rude to him he doesn't bite back I find. But I'm not a fan of anyone being rude UJ I'm sure by now knows that.

There was a story on the radio last week about a young man who used to work in a coffee shop and was taking home the minimum wage. Eventually, he took over the shop and employed people only to discover that he was now taking home less.
