It has always been so.
Sailing and polo,as well as grouse shooting, also exempt from the rules of 6. Not exactly the sort of sports that your average person would be doing. As always one rule for the rich, and another rule for everyone else!

Hhhmmmm.....can't have Sunday lunch with 7 family members ,but ok to go shooting birds with 30 other people,or knock a ball around a field, riding on the back of a horse!

So much for the "we are all in this together " attitude of the government!

But that doesn't mean they cannot be carriers of Covid, nor pass it on, just the same as the rest of us, and what about staff catching it from the public too?
They are not protecting themselves at all are they.
The shops have other measures in place including screens, other protective equipment and cleaning routines so to say they are not protecting themselves "at all" is unfair

"You may want to keep yourself more safe"

is VERY different to

"You are breaking the law"

Especially when we are seeing parties and revellers that don't give a damn

Those workers in the shops are doing their level best to keep the economy and "normal life" going - we should be respectful and NOT place them in any way in the same category as those who do not care who they harm

I don't think anyone is being disrespectful, but if customers have to wear masks, and checkout girls behind a screen, then why shouldn't they, they are walking about the shop floor.

Its somewhat disrespectful when talked alongside people breaking the law, not following rules, organising and partaking in mass gatherings or having a jolly chasing a poor animal

Shop staff do not make the rules nor are they breaking any. Often their duties include lifting and handling which can be difficult with a mask - they are just doing their job as they have been told to in difficult circumstances.

The respectful way would be to concentrate on the idiots and fools that are spoiling it for all the rest and leave those that are clearly following the rules to get on with their job supporting us all

Exactly.
The misconception I read on here is that face masks are to protect the wearer. The fact is that they are there to attempt to prevent potentially infected wearers spreading the disease to others.

I agree, that shop workers on the floor are walking around without masks and may, in that way, be potentially spreading the coronavirus disease to customers, regardless of whether their employer assures us that they have taken precautions to protect their staff.

Yet another loophole which the government seem either unaware of or are not interested in.

Yes, as we said in the Hunting thread:

" Grouse shooting in Scotland also exempt from Covid ‘rule of six’

Following the news this afternoon that grouse shooting in England has been made exempt from the Covid ‘rule of six’ (see here), the Scottish Government has now confirmed grouse shooting in Scotland is also exempt, according to Chris Musson, Scottish Political Editor at The Sun."

The posh knobs and gentry evading the rules as usual.

It's the same the whole world over,
It's the poor what gets the blame,
It's the rich what gets the pleasure,
Ain't it all a bloomin' shame?
