Yes, I can see why Italy isn't entirely enamoured of the EU.

Yes, a very important reason why we should leave.

What exactly DO we get in return for all the money we pay in?

True for the present. In the EECperiod from 1973 up to 1998 the UK was a net-receiver, as were the netherlands till 1992. Germany was a net-payer ever since it was a member (1958).
It's called solidarity, of which all countries benefit. Not only in a strict financial manner.

To put it a little in perspective: UK pays approx. 12 billion/year and receives approx. 7 billion/year. A net-payer of 5 billion/year.
The annual budget of the UK in 2017 was 769 billion. The net payment to the EU is 0.7% of the money your government spents each year.

Productivity is a measure used by capitalists and profiteers to sack people.

In the UK we have tendency to spread the wealth creation across higher numbers of people rather than throw them on the scrap heap.

It's why employment is so high and why unemployment so low.

Most Europeans prefer the UK model which is why they head this way in droves.

Youth unemployment figures in parts of the continental EU is 51% . For those people the EU is NOT working...literally

And yet you think that's alright? Bizarre !

Too much!

Anyway, You have totally missed the point.

It isn't just about the money

It's about not being in synch with the Franco/German/Globalist scheme to create a European superpower that doesn't respect our Anglo sensibilities.

Germany/France/Belgium have resented the USA/UK dominance of Western culture /politics/ commerce since WW2 and the EU is their way to wrest back control.

If you can't even consider that basic concept in your reasoning you will never understand the majority British mindset.

The EU works for the continentals and little nations that are frightened of their bigger neighbours but Britain is not in that category

When you've finished squabbling and hurling abuse at each other! Can any of you address a genuine concern?
With all this talk about a new Cold War with Russia, how much support will we get from Europe if we become a prime target for attacks, cyber or otherwise?
It seems strange that things are happening just as we're about to be on our own with little protection as our defences are depleted.
No need to be sarcastic or call me names, just answer please.

That wasn't a good reason to leave. The reason we didn't get as much back as we should is inertia and apathy. The process for receiving money for projects requires effort and we didn't have sufficient projects bidding for it to receive back as much as other countries who made more effort.

So it comes back to our own fault as is the case with many of the problems we are blaming the EU for. How can we change that after Brexit?

Tess I totally agree, but there are some here who think Russia is too far away to be a threat and that we will be too small and insignificant to attack after we leave.

It is in Russia's interests for the EU to crumble. They see it as a threat that has swallowed up their buffer zone.

Hi

We are already a prime target, our Politicians have been amongst those leading the charge against Russia.

Only recently we have made threats against them, which is incredibly stupid given the military imbalance.

If it does kick off we will be hammered due to the USA Bases here and best not to forget we have no missile defence systems other than short range systems based on ships.

We are members of NATO, so in theory all NATO Members would rush to our defence, including the USA.

Turkey is a NATO Member and when they shot down a Russian Plane, NATO told them they where on their own.

Putin is clever, if he wants a pop at us he will be on the phone to Trump, stay out of it, we will not target your troops in the UK, join in and it is Nukes on USA Mainland.

Trump will look after the USA.

Stop poking him, get out of Syria and he will leave us alone, we are a side show, he has bigger fish to fry.
