Re: is it inevitable?

It's interesting that things have switched away from fat being the worst thing you could eat to a complete change to sugar being the worst thing.
My auntie used to say that sugar was deadly back in the early 70s and she was right really but I would find it very hard to cut it out of the diet completely as we are so used to it in everything for one thing but if you fancy a square of chocolate etc why not. If you deprive yourself completely you can't stick to keeping the calorie count for the day low.

The other good thing for snacks is nuts, if you can eat them though they are a bit expensive, they are packed full of important things you don't get in an average diet and have good health benefits.

Re: is it inevitable?

Well, enough is enough as far as I'm concerned. I looked at myself in the mirror this morning and I didn't like what I saw. So, I'm going to see how quickly I can shed the weight. I intend to do it like this ...

: in the day eat fruit - frozen or fresh - maybe smoothies
: one main meal in the evening but not too much of veggies and a can of tuna or some sort of fish
: vitamin / calcium tabs

The above, along with exercising (new bike indoor Turbo Trainer will be here today), should do the trick.

I think I had better post this bitter experience so that someone could gain from it and avoid copying ... it is easy to cut one's tongue by trying to lick all the tuna out of a can.
