Re: Eggs on toast

THese all sound great. Try this. It's healthier than it sounds. You can have it on toast or put whatever you like around the egg. It is a quick way to get a really crisp fried egg that is hot but still soft in the middle. The basic method is:-

Simply heat some rice bran oil to level to cook fries/chips. Take two very fresh eggs and break them one by one into a small container. Gently slip one egg at a time into the oil and let it crisp up for 30 seconds or so. Not too much more. Ladle it out with a slot spoon onto a strainer and let the oil drip off thoroughly before putting it on a plate. Repeat for as many eggs as you want.

Poached, or scrambled, then under the grill with grated cheese on top.

Worked a treat, poached eggs on home made bread last night, we now need another one, asked the Wife where she got it from, and was told she bought it from the Pound Shop, couldn't resist asking how much it cost, all credit to her, she replied £2.99.

Re: Eggs on toast

This is something I make for a quick lunch at home or when travelling.

Ingredients:

Slice of bread
1 egg
Slice of cheese (NOT processed cheese slices)
Butter

Hot plate on low to medium (see last picture)

Make a hole in the centre of the bread about 40 - 50mm diameter. Eat the bread removed (quells the hunger while you are cooking)

Melt a blob of butter in the bottom of a non stick pan then add the bread to the pan and soak up the butter

Break an egg into the hole in the bread. Tilt the pan to get the white over some of the bread.

Add pepper (and salt if you must)

When the white is half cooked place the slice of cheese on top (real cheese not processed)

When the cheese starts to melt slightly flip the whole thing over. Do not try to move immediately until the cheese has crisped up.

Once it is browned to a nice consistency remove from pan and eat.

With this brand of cheese I think I would use two slices in future as they are cut a bit thin. Slices cut off a block of cheese work but they can separate when being turned over

I never turn my electric stove higher than this during the whole procedure - too hot and you will burn it.

Must be good for you - full of food groups, it was delicious.
