Language around race

There have been several times recently I've winced at some comment about race but seeing the Chinese described as sub human has made me feel very uncomfortable indeed.

Is it me or is some of this really not on ? Our forum has had its problems and I really don't want this to become another one !

I've always thought we are lucky to be born here, lucky we never have to make the choices some people have to around the world to make our way in this troubled world. It's not them fair to judge others and use language about them like that IMO.

If it's just me finding this uncomfortable I'll just fade slowly away as it gets worse but it would be great if we could all think about the luck we have and not think we are so superior to others we can use language like that.

Julie, whoever it was that made that vile comment regarding the Chinese want locking up! I've always admired the Chinese and Japanese. So traditional, so polite, so gentle, so refined. They could certainly teach us a thing about manners.

Was that in the newspaper or on the forum do you mean?
I haven't seen anything like that said anywhere, so not sure about this yet.

On the forum I believe looking at comments I'm not the only one rather put out by it.

I don t think the Chinese are sub human at all they are a clever and industrious people the but they and all Asians can be very cruel .
For proof one only has to look at the atrocities the Japanese committed in the war .

I agree with you Julie .... I'm generally outspoken but was surprised to see it, but it is only a view.
Don't feel you have to fade slowly away. Surely it's better to be here and express that you feel uncomfortable about it.

That's another generation muddy, look back far enough and that's not very far we were pretty awful too.

My ex partner went to work in China advising company owners how to run their companies in the western way. He was treated like a king, so much so he fell in love with the country and the people.
He is now married to a Chinese lady, twenty years younger than himself and has two children!
Am l bitter, no not one bit! I am thrilled for him!

It funny when you see a beautiful well dressed young woman hawking and spitting into the street !
