It wasn't a lorry or truck. It was a container and these things are frequently dropped off at a marshaling yard, then loaded by crane or port based tractors on to the ferry.
At the other end the containers are moved to another marshaling yard and collected by either a flat bed or an artic tractor unit depending on the container type.
It is entirely possible the driver who collected the thing had absolutely no knowledge that there were corpses inside the load he had just picked up.
Telegraph, today, is saying that there are only enough tracking people to check, about, 1 in every 400 containers.
Some ports are very tight - some not at all.
