Re: Mystery Road - Film now TV Series

I've enjoyed the series and just got the last episode to watch, hopefully get around to it this afternoon. It's certainly got me intrigued....

Goldstone, the sequel movie to the original Mystery Road movie, is on BBC 4 next Saturday the 13th at 9pm. Aaron Pederson is in this one too.

Re: Mystery Road - Film now TV Series

Oh dear .....

"Goldstone" was dreadful .....

Every possible reference from "Mystery Road" (the movie) was mangled into an appalling pastiche, with none of the original artistic integrity, ending with a 3-minute "I coulda been, I shoulda been" speech from the chisel-jawed white hero, who'd just rescued the beautiful Chinese prostitutes from bondage, to which Jay, thankfully, replied "I guess ..... "

The movie has no redeeming features, not even Aaron Pedersen, who, for an unspecified reason, portrays Jay as a long-haired, cigarette-smoking, drunk ......

"Goldstone" got great reviews but, IMO, Ivan Sen just did it by the numbers for maximum financial return - a return which, AFAIK, did not materialise .....

Re: Mystery Road - Film now TV Series

I've just caught up with Goldstone on i Player. I agree with Omah, it was a real letdown, cliched characters, from the mayor, crooked business man, gangster bikers, to the two cops, both pretty unbelievable. The only plus I could give it, was the dry, dusty, but beautiful desert scenery. Let us pray, there is not a Goldstone 2 !
