The reason (as I understand it) is that it would cost around £500K to install a new floor for access and, then to re-install the clapper to make the "bongs" in the bell and that money could be spent better on things like silly adverts for Sadiq Kahn and expenses for his army of "do nothing", woke socialist morons.

Oh well, there is a light at the end of the tunnel because the good old Brexit Party have said they will sound the bongs through the PA in Parliament Square instead.

Good good
I thought it was 500k per bong. They are talking about crowdfunding.

Why should it cost anything, the company repairing BB submitted
a tender to complete the job? How can they now say it will cost
extra to ring the bell? It has allready been quoted on!
They say they have to insert a floor to take the weight or something
if this is so, how did the bell ring on New years eve?

Can't see any possibility of being allowed to celebrate leaving.

- except in our own environment.

Somebody might be sent to the Supreme Court to make sure it doesn't happen!

Maybe they have recorded the bongs and will just play them at the time.

Yes, it does sound like an excuse.

GMT of course. CET would be crossing the line.

Hi

The contractors have removed some key elements of the strikers and the floors.

To get the thing striking on Brexit Day would mean bring them back and putting in temporary floors which would then have to be removed again.

A complete waste of money.

We have recordings, which could be played.

Boris has pledged to cut down on waste.

Good for him.
