The Taking of Pelham 1-2-3 (1974) 21:00-23:10 Thu 2nd Jul 2020 115m True Movies

Director Joseph Sargent

Starring Walter Matthau, Robert Shaw, Martin Balsam, Hector Elizondo, Earl Hindman

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Ta...ree_(1974_film)

In New York City, four men wearing similar disguises and carrying concealed weapons board the same downtown 6 train, Pelham 1-2-3, at different stations. Using codenames Mr. Blue, Mr. Green, Mr. Grey, and Mr. Brown, they take 18 people, including the conductor and an undercover police officer, hostage in the first car.

Communicating over the radio with Zachary Garber, a New York City Transit Authority police lieutenant, Blue demands a $1 million ransom to be delivered within one hour, and threatens to kill one hostage for every minute it is late.
The original and best .....

IIRC, 1974 was a great year for movies and the 1970's was a great decade for movies using gritty /sleazy New York locations .....

Excellent film ! Walter Mattheu and Robert Shaw were each perfect picks for their respective roles. I have it on DVD.

Brilliant film - well scripted, well cast, well acted - I have it on DVD and watch it at least once a year.

The 1998 remake (Edward James Olmos) was bad enough - but the 2009 version (Denzel Washington and John Revolting) was total dross!

Well, I tried watching the recording but, athough picture quality was good, it was very, very dark in the tunnel - speech was somewhat muffled, too, and occasionally stifled, so, halfway through I gave up since, without subtitles, I was losing the plot ....

Since True Movies is actually Sony Movies Classic, is it all part of the plot to inhibit recording, since, sometimes, parts of films fail to record at all or, apparently, request subscription .....
