Could Hapless Barnier be for the Chop??

Not substantiated of course, but more than one rumour coming out of the EU that Barney will be moved before long and Mutta Merkel will take over direct talks with Boris.

Interesting times ahead....

The sooner the better IMHO. At the moment all the Barmpot seems to have achieved is to make the problematic FTA negotiations far more difficult to solve than the Gordian knot.

To me it seems rather simple. In january the UK left the EU. The UK loses the benefits of trade agreements the EU members had with many countries.

During the time the UK was in the EU the cooperation in many fields got very intens. Like on defence, crime, data, banking, science, education.
On leaving the EU this cooperation needs to continue, according to people in the respective fields. But boris and brexiteers seem to want to cut all ties. Leading to going everything alone, and on the way buying satellites for a gps system from a firm that is bankrupt, and on top of it, the wrong satellites.
The problem on these themes is that the UK wants to keep all the benefits of cooperation. These benefits however, are reserved for members. So here brexit means brexit.

As for trade deal, the UK knocks on the door of the EU, requesting a deal. The EU told you what kind of deal is on offer, and on what conditions. If you want other conditions, you have to offer something in return. As per usual, so far the british side has only told what they don't wanna give.

"Benefits" like ............ €90 billion trade surplus?
"Benefits" like ............ no more jobless Eastern europeans supposedly looking for work, not being enslaved as "car wash attendants" or "manicurists" or worse, into prostitution?
"Benefits" like .............. not being allowed to chose who we can make a deal with to buy and sell without permission?
"Benefits" like ............ repeteadly seing our industries sacrificed at the EU altar?

Oh, we will see the differences alright.

Oh, we will see the differences alright.

The UK benefits least from the single market anyway. Solasch will be happy though there's 20 odd member states going to benefit from the Netherlands paying off their debts for them.

We won't

Wait until Solasch sees the Netherlands and others paying us billions for their continued intransigence and refusal to abide by their own rules once we sue.
