We have a hugemarket for cars, and an extremely profitable one.
Somebody will make the very most of that - and together with the changing reliance on fuels, now is a good time to reconfigure our position.
A trade deal that will need to be ratified by japanese parliament in january. And you broke a treaty, making your country's bond worthless.
In case of a no deal japanese car producers in UK want compensation.
Japanese makers Toyota and Nissan to seek compensation from UK if no-deal Brexit forces 10% export tariff on cars built in Britain, according to report https://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/...il-Nikkei.html

That's a lot of words with no meaning.
The trade deal will be signed - and I gave you proof, direct from Asia.

As for compensation, nothing has happened.
Has it?
It is conjecture and nothing more.
We have seen far too mabny similar tales proven wrong to pay these any serious attention.

That compensation is dependent upon a trade deal, or not. Another advantage of brexit?

Oh, are you finally understanding?

It is dependent upon many things, only one of which in reality is a trade deal.
Anyway, the UK can add any eventual costs to the EU's bill when we sue.

So if the UK decides to end the negotiations, accepting no deal, the japanese automobile industry is compensated?

Sue? Since when do criminals sue the disadvantaged party?

The criminals are the EU though Solasch - they have a very long history of being so, don't they!
(Not a question but a statement of fact.)

Any further EU bullying will cost them dearly although it is likely that their coercions will already lead to a huge cost for them.

So, in case the EU doesn't alter it's stance on a deal, and boris will cause a no deal end of transition, the UK is prepared to pay compensation to nissan and toyota. Or do they need to sue you for it?

There will be no need to sue us - I keep telling you; we will sue the EU.

I keep showing you that it is already being discussed high-up in our government.
Strangely you keep ignoring that . . . .

The EU would be damaging itself in other ways too.
Here's a bit about Flanders for you.
It's from within the past 24 hours, so very current.

"Belgium’s fruit growers, which produce a third of the world’s conference pears, are just one example of how failure to strike a tariff-free, quota-free agreement would also be a blow to businesses in a host of EU members.

In Belgium, a country that is one of the most economically exposed EU member states to Brexit, a no-deal outcome could cost tens of thousands of jobs. Most of those losses would be in the country’s Dutch-speaking north"

Protecting UK companies is one of the reasons we are leaving and why the EU want is to obey their level playing field.

Its not a level playing field at all - its another big lie by the EU.

I agree with you. Britain was the country most ardent in the EU to put those rules in place. Conservatives don't like the government to help ailing industries.
