I think The Queens Gambit is a chess move so I presume it’s about chess .

It is about an orphan who learned chess from the orphanage caretaker before being adopted by an unsuitable couple, she is brilliant at the game but she also has addiction and social issues. I can't stop watching, it is brilliant and I have no interest in chess.

Drat, I was going to watch an episode of this but now I'm not going to bother. I'm not interested in someone's addiction and/or social issues in TV or Film shows, especially ones that have been hung onto a very unlikely plot hook. I'm not interested in how characters cope (or don't cope) with their problems either. I want to be entertained in these gloomy times, not add more gloom!

I have just finished the last episode and it was a very satisfactory ending.Overall a series not to miss, whether you like chess or not is irrelevant and doesn't interfere with the series but just adds tension and background.
I think Marcella was the last series I enjoyed as much.
