If the Doctors are going to work a true 7 day system there will have to be considerably more of them but also lab staff , diagnostic staff etc etc .
Not much point in having the Doctors fully staffed 7 days if nobody else is .
Hope the NHS ( already on its knees ) can afford all that .
Well, at the risk of being taken to task, we could start with Hospital Trust Boards getting their fingers out and ensuring that every Tom, Dick and Harry plus their families coming into this country solely for the purpose of receiving expensive, free treatment is made to pay up before that same treatment is given!
It is the same old story, same old bleating excuses, such as. "It is not our job to become Debt Collectors" Oh yes it b....y well is !! it is taxpayers money that keeps the NHS alive and taxpayers have the right to demand that those given that money ensure that anyone that do not live here and is not entitled to medical treatment except in accident and emergency, should pay for it. Every other Health Authority in every other country seems to manage quite capably to collect payments from those not entitled to free treatment. Why on earth can't we? Pure laziness that's why. Extra work that's why.
We could also start by losing a layer or two of fat-cat management and put the money where it should be used - on the front line services.
I have a friend who worked for the local council as a Human Resources Manager. She applied for and was successful in gaining the same position at a local hospital here but the difference in salary was astronomical ! almost double of what she was previously earning, and she was earning a lot
The problem with the NHS is that it is not their money they are spending so they spend, spend, spend, all on what they should not be spending it on, then they go hand out with begging bowl for more. If they got rid of the unwanted, the unnecessary, collected monies where it should be collected from Health visitors, there would be more than enough to cover the cost of all the extra departments required to run an excellent 7 day week NHS for it's patients.
