We used to call them Bogeys
We used to call the nasty things that came out of your nose 'bogeys'.

Re: Do You Ever Miss ‘How it Used To Be’?

I appreciate the things we have today, particularly in the field of technology. But one thing I do miss is the quality of writing paper. Not that I do a lot of handwriting these days but I was looking through some of my old notebooks. I used a fountain pen. At school, our desks had inkwells.

Notebooks now won't take real ink.

You're right. I've noticed the same thing.
The ink just pools on the screen and, should you try to tilt it, it rolls down on to your clothes.

Not exactly. I don't have a notebook, but I tried it on my smartphone. The other problem is that there is very little room on which to write, even when I write as small as I can.

Basser, the scrumped apples always tasted the best!

We used to dress our younger sister up as the guy! She got fed up of being prodded and poked when we went asking, ‘Penny for the guy!

I remember catching robin reds and sticklebacks with a net in the brook.

I loved building a trolley with the kids in the street, it was the greatest fun and the strangest looking contraption!
It wasn’t funny when one kid fell off and broke his arm when we were going at great speed!

Proud to have been a Scallywag, but once is probably enough.
