The reason that I like to get the first round is simply that it's a thing that I LIKE to do.
I've never been a heavy drinker, even at my worst I'd stop after at the most half a dozen shorts and move onto plain mixers. Tonic water with ice and lemon was my fave.
Socially I'm a bit gregarious and maybe that accounts for me wanting to be not the life and soul of a do, but certainly a contributor rather than a consumer.

We used to go out with a couple & the man would always hang back so Tony went to the bar first.I thought nothing of it but Tony explained to me that if we had 3,5, or 7 rounds Tony would always be the one to buy the extra round.
Once I realised this I made sure I always asked for a more expensive drink when it was the other man's round.
We enjoyed their company except for this. I guess everybody has their faults.
