Could that be because our Government has control of its own spending and the people were immediately helped in every possible way and didn't have to literally beg for help as many of your 27 had to? So much for unity! That dark period will certainly come back to haunt you.

I will freely admit I hope the EU goes under a bus! The whole shebang is no longer fit for purpose and should be put out of its misery. When a country such as the United Kingdom chooses to leave, the whole world, never mind the whole of Europe, knows there is something seriously wrong.
Of course, as usual, you will never admit it, So be it.

The only ones my heart go out to are the citizens of the 27.
God help them with what is yet to come.

In order for the EU to survive it needs to rapidly grab more power from the member states. There will be no way out when merkel launches the common tax policy. The EU will then no longer be an ideology it will be a country in its own right. The 27 will simply be colonies of it, an empire and all the political trappings that the EU fanatics have been thumbing their noses at over the past 50 years or no.
