If we didn't have strict gun controls, Teresa May would be toast.

Re: Why is the United States so violent?

Returning to the OP, I think the American Dream has a lot to do with the American culture of looking out for number one and sod everybody else.

From what I've been told by Americans, if you get sick, you get poor.

I was watching an episode of Judge Judy, (I know, I know), where one of the characters in her courtroom said she had no money as she had, 'Gotten sick'.

Judge Judy, to my absolute surprise, said, 'So? Get over it.'

Somebody in the States who is diagnosed with cancer or other life threatening illnesses are faced with the premise, 'Your pills, your bills'; whereas in the UK a far more sympathetic approach is taken with financial help, free healthcare, free medication, support nursing and, when terminal, support from a hospice who specialise in allowing you to die with dignity and supporting your family. All free!

So there is more to life than working hard, doing your neighbour down to further yourself in this life.

Same in this country.

If you are the breadwinner and you have a mortgage and fall ill to say with Cancer or any other illnesses that stops you from working and you cant keep up the payments on your home you will lose your house.

Re: Why is the United States so violent?

Bruce, I missed your map. Yours is better than mine.

But never mind that.

I have been sitting here with a body in the freezer (as, from the looks of things, most of us Americans seemingly do) while also craving a surfing vacation for some time now.

Thank you ever so much for helping me kill two birds with one stone (that pun, hee here). Now its just a matter of where...
