I suppose with Recomposting the idea is to utilize air, natural elements and some accelerators to speed up the process and use the resulting compost in the same way as usual compost.

This system also helps control air pollution which cremations can create.

I'm all for this new idea.👍👌

You may be confusing a Cemetery with a Cementery.

Juke, Surely, concrete isn’t a good idea especially when flooding is so rife these days?

By concrete I meant a hard grave, with a grave stone etc which covers the grave once the earth on top of the coffin has settled.

I may have used a wrong word to describe it but i meant the solid stones etc that cover the grave once the earth has settled.

I still seem to have a brain fog. 🤯

What are your views on this I read today:

" U.S. firm called 'Recompose' is building the world's first human composting facility as an alternative to cremation or burial.
Bodies are covered in wood chips, then aerated.

"A spokesman said: " By controlling the ratio of carbon, nitrogen, oxygen and moisture, the system creates the perfect environment for thermophilic microbes to thrive and break down everything."

The process requires an eighth of the energy needed for cremation and saves a metric ton of carbon dioxide per person."

The first thing that came to my mind is it doesn't say how long this process takes.
If it takes as long as normal compost to rot down, there's going to be an awful long queue!
In SA Mups, in rural areas it was possible to buy a sort of cover to
place over dead farm animals such as cows etc which due to the
sunshine and being airtight caused the decaying process to speed
up by a large factor without expending any energy at all!
You didnt even have to move the dead animal as the cover was
portable and lightweight!
Perhaps a system like this could be modified to suit human needs?
Of course in colder countries the sunshine would have to be
supplemented by another source of energy, maybe the system you
speak of is such a system??
I think something like this has great potential once we resolve our
religious differences!

Regards Donkeyman!

Juke, I think what you meant was not a layer of concrete as such, but you were referring to the headstone etc. Am I correct?

Re: Cremation, Burial . . . or Composted

Hi

Simple basic cremation for me, no mourners, ashes not returned.

I intend to leave this world as I came into it, unnoticed.
