Why?

Last night why we were sitting watching the tennis, did a brass inkwell (1lb) come flying off the top of the bureau on to the floor.
We were about 5 feet from it and had not been anywhere near it that day.
What do you think could have done it?

Re: Why?

Did it actually fly off or fall off? How near the edge of the bureau was it? If it was quite close, there could have been a small earth tremor that shook it off but if you were seated, may not have noticed.

Or, the alternative could be

Re: Why?

We never saw it go, we just heard it crash to the floor, but would suggest it fell off, it is about 9inches from the edge and is always in that spot.

Re: Why?

Did the bureau have an extra good polishing that day, Arthur?

It does have shiny surface, but I have tried to move it by giving it a gentle push and sucking with the vacuum cleaner, and it won't budge.
I have been a spiritualist for over 40 years, and do see and feel a presence if it is there, but not last night, it was just two people sitting watching the tennis.
I looked at the wife at the same time she looked at me with astonishment.
If it had been today I may have said it was mum, it is the 20th anniversary of her passing, but I don't believe that to be the case.

It could have been a slight earth tremor then. We had one once in Birmingham and the chair I was sitting on moved forward about a foot! I thought it was a poltergeist and rang my Dad in a panic to come and save us

Not been recorded, but it could have been an aftershock from January 2011
