As millions of workers are becoming unemployed in the private sector and thousands of businesses fold, the public sector responds by asking for pay rises courtesy of the taxpayer.

How disgusting.

Much though some might wish otherwise, it is a rare case indeed where the lunatics run the asylum.

I thought they were freezing pay rises for the public sector. It's MPs who awarded themselves a pay rise.

Re: Senior Home Office official QUITS after vicious rows with Priti Patel

Oh dear, these little officals in the Home Office don't like someone rattling their cage do they , I can just imagine the gossip in the tea room about Priti .

The Home Office is I understand notorious for its 'died in the wool' civil servants , I remember another female Home Secretary Amber Rudd fell prey to the men in grey suits...

https://www.itv.com/news/2018-11-02/...ween-officials

The report, written by Sir Alex Allan, the Prime Minister’s adviser on ministerial standards, says "crossed wires" contributed to Ms Rudd’s downfall.

She "was not supported as she should have been" by her officials before, during and after the committee appearance on April 25.

"In preparations immediately before the hearing, the home secretary asked 'Are there removals targets?' and was told 'No'. This led to her denial in the hearing," writes Sir Alex in an executive summary.

He adds: "I cannot establish how she was given this reply: the most likely explanation is crossed wires between her special adviser and her private office."
Sir Alex really should be getting a clear picture of some attitudes in the Home Office by now shouldn't he

Priti Patel faces axe in reshuffle over ‘competence’

https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/p...ence-csbxdggt3

Boris Johnson is set to axe Priti Patel as home secretary in his next reshuffle amid questions in Downing Street over her “competence” — as it emerged that a report into her conduct found that she told civil servants they were “f***ing useless”.

The prime minister circled the wagons to protect Patel last week, rejecting an official finding that she had bullied officials and broken the ministerial code of conduct.

But multiple sources say he has had conversations about replacing her as home secretary when he recasts his cabinet in the New Year.
Of course, some FM's will dismiss this as "gossip" but they said the same about Cummings ...... and now he's gone ......

Ah, Rudd, who resigned as Home Secretary after misleading the Home Affairs Select Committee on deportation targets .....

What a whinger ..... she should "grow a pair", a phrase some of our esteemed members have used in relation to Patel, who, presumably has a pair .....

Come now, you surely must know that MP's do not decide their own pay.

"The salary of UK MPs is not set by the government or parliament, but by the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA), which links MPs’ pay to changes in average earnings in the public sector as published by the Office for National Statistics (ONS)."

Rudds 'officials' were clearly not doing their job...what's the betting many are all still in their highly paid jobs and not supporting Patel ...
