It's a record!

NSW has gone 28 days without a case of community transmission of Covid for the first time since the pandemic started just over a year ago. Not that this can't change in an instant - The UK strain is loose in Victoria.

New Zealand has reported three new locally acquired COVID-19 cases in Auckland, sending the country's largest city into a three-day lockdown.

Auckland will go to alert level 3 restrictions from 11:59pm local-time on Sunday, with the rest of New Zealand at alert level 2.

Meanwhile in Straya the first 80000 doses of the Pfizer vaccine arrive from Europe this week, 3 million doses are expected to arrive in April to June. Vaccinations start at the end of this month.

Nobody in our Cul-de-Sac (20 people) have ever had covid!...
And as far as I know, nobody in the village has had covid, but I can't swear to that....I can only speak for the folks I know, but bad news soon gets around a small village (5,000 ish).....

The Australian government has stopped quarantine free flights from New Zealand after genome testing has shown the virus there is the more infectious UK variety. It is a mystery how it got into the community as those affected have no contact with overseas travellers.

Australia's medical regulator has approved the Oxford University-AstraZeneca coronavirus vaccine for use in Australia.

Australia has secured just under 54 million doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine
It will be produced in Melbourne and will be the vaccine most Australians get
The vaccine has been approved for everyone over 18 but will be given to people over 65 on a case-by-case basis

It is the second vaccine given the green light by the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) after it approved the Pfizer vaccine last month.

Victoria's snap "short, sharp circuit-breaker" coronavirus lockdown will end on schedule tonight, Premier Comrade Dan Andrews has confirmed, but mask rules and gathering limits will remain in place.

Schools will re-open, workplaces will return to 50 per cent capacity and people will be allowed to leave the house for any reason.
