It isn't easy getting rid of Norton as, when you get rid of one component, another one pops up, so the only way to get shut of it altogether is with the Norton Uninstall Tool:
Then, it is vital that you install new anti-virus as soon after otherwise your computer will not be protected. As suggested, use AVG Free which is much safer than Norton:
I never use 'uninstall ' programs to remove anything. I use uninstall from the Programs list and then go into the register and use 'find' to remove the remnants that are left behind, easy.( Do not use the register if you do not know what you are removing)
I've taken your advice Doglover and installed AVG on a trial basis. I've uninstalled Norton successfully so I have now to see if things are any better. Thanks for all your advice folk.
You should be fine with that Alan. I used it for many years and then my IT people at work recommended Avast! which I have now. Thats fine also. Just have the free ones, don't pay for anything.
